The Orange Thimble

When I visited Tiong Bahru Bakery the other time, I told myself I want to come back to Eng Hoon street again to visit the cafe next door called The Orange Thimble. Burpple.com and Cafe hoppingsg have listed the cafe as the 20 cafes to visit in Singapore for people who love everything old school. I reckon that crowds are now inevitable at these 20 places.
The furniture in Orange Thimble does not resemble a cafe at all. It is almost like someone's home. Very cosy and comfortable. There are magazines hanging on a wall for reading. And a self-service corner for iced water. Many of the seats are comfortable sofas. This place is ideal for relaxing and anyone who needs a quiet time. At the back of the cafe, there is like a study room. I reckoned that's their mini cafe office. Some photos taken of the cafe behind the food counter:
The food:
Shepherd's Pie
Chicken Stew with pasta
I ordered a Shepherd's pie while my partner tried the chicken stew pasta. We ordered a side dish but I could not remember the name of the meat bun. The food tasted decent. We did not try any of their cakes or ice cream as we have plans to go opposite to drips bakery to try their tarts. I won't mind coming back to the orange thimble again because there are other stuff worth trying and I love the cosy interior. In my next visit, I would order their breakfast set and gula melaka ice cream.
