Selfish Gene Cafe

I am probably not the only one who is very amused by the quirky name of this cafe. Why is the place called Selfish Gene? Quoting the owner, Gene, he said this on his cafe webpage:

" Gene has always been rather selfish when it comes to food. It is not that he will never share his food, but rather he will not serve anyone food that he would not eat himself. The incessant search for his local cafe has hardly produced results, so he decided to start his own."

These are photos of my visit to Selfish Gene with my cousins half a year ago:

I can still remember very clearly that day when we went in, the guy attending to us informed that several of their dishes were running or had ran out . We were so shocked. It was only 2pm! This place must be really popular. We ordered iced chocolate, eggs benedict, smoked salmon and roast beef sandwiches.

The food were extremely yummy! If I have to pick my favourite, it would be the eggs benedict with smoked salmon. The eggs were so runny and tasted so good with the saltiness of the smoked salmon and the freshly made wholemeal bread. It's a pity that their benedicts are no longer with smoked salmon. They served with ham according to the latest changes in the menu. Their SGC chocolate is one of the best chocolate that I've had by far in any cafes. Huge thumbs up!
