Hummerstons
Wednesday, 27 November 2013 | 21:11 | 0 comments

Went to Hummerstons at Robertson Walk with my partner some time ago. The place was quite hard to find. We were walking around in circles with our GPS. Apparently, the restaurant is located on the 2nd storey.

Our Lunch:
 BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich
Hummerstons Burger
The portions were very generous. We enjoyed the hummerstons burger for its variety of ingredients: Bacon, mushrooms, juicy beef patty, melted cheese, sweet onion, veggies.  The BBQ pulled pork sandwich however, was quite disappointing. We have the exact same problem with the Char siew foccacia open burger at Relish. Overly sweet sauce on the sandwich and the BBQ pulled pork shreds. It is something I will not order again when I revisit Hummerstons.

Relish
Monday, 25 November 2013 | 18:38 | 0 comments

Relish is a burger place opened by the same group of people that started the Wild Rocket Restaurant. What I find very interesting about Relish is the fusion dishes that they created. They offer local-inspired burgers such as the Char Siew open foccacia burger, curry chicken burger and Ram-lee burger. The outlet that we went to was located in Cluny Court, near the Botanic gardens MRT station.

Our Food:
Char Siew open foccacia burger
Wild Rocket beef burger
My partner ordered the Char Siew open foccacia burger while I tried the wild rocket beef burger. We agree that the beef burger was pretty good. However, my partner find the char siew  sauce made the char siew burger too overly sweet. A couple of mouthfuls from the Char Siew burger tasted great, but having to finish the entire dish with the sweet flavour was hard. We both think that Relish is still worth revisiting, since the beef burger tasted great and there are plenty of other creative dishes that we've yet to try.

Graze
Sunday, 24 November 2013 | 00:28 | 0 comments

Everywhere is crowded in Singapore on a weekend. It is rare to find places where there are less crowds. Ever since my visit to Nosh, I have been wanting to explore Rochester Park. It is less crowded there and a great place to relax. My partner and I decided to try Graze for breakfast in Rochester Park.

Our brunch:

omelette, baked with sausage, peppers, feta, tomato
breakfast bruschetta, slow cooked egg, bacon, crushed avocado,
tomato, feta, balsamic vinaigrette

Although the prices were not too bad (not more than $20) but the portions were small for its price. The breakfast bruschetta tasted decent, but the sausage omelette was so-so. I am uncertain whether I will revisit the place again.

Vanilla Bar & Cafe
Thursday, 21 November 2013 | 00:16 | 0 comments

Vanilla Bar & Cafe is  one of my favourite cafes in Singapore. Went there with a friend earlier this year. This place literally smells like vanilla, very pleasant and refreshing!! If you love Japanese and western cuisine, this place is definitely for you!!

I ordered the chef-recommended pulled-pork bbq sandwich while my friend she ordered a chicken cutlet with fries. In addition, we ordered a plate of mentaiko crab cakes to share. As for desserts, we decided to try their highly popular vanilla dirt cake and the molten chocolate lava cake.

 Mentaiko Crab cakes
Chicken cutlet and fries (can't remember the exact name)
 Vanilla Dirt Cake
Molten chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream

The mentaiko crab cakes were soooooo delicious!!! My friend I contemplated a second portion, but decided not to for we were worried we could not finish our food. I love the pork sandwiches that I ordered. The texture of the meat was so soft and moist, the bbq sauce was not too overwhelming. The chicken cutlet was so-so and too much for my friend. She did not manage to finish it. The vanilla dirt cake was really cute. It was served in a flower pot and had a fake plastic flower attached to the oreo crumbs of the cake. The cake was frozen and tasted like vanilla-cheese ice-cream with lots of oreos.  The molten chocolate lava cake was decent. The semi-sweet chocolate complemented with the sweetness of the ice cream. The food prices at vanilla are pretty affordable. My pork sandwich was $10.90. The other dishes were about between $12 to $19 depending on what you order. I can't wait to revisit the place again.

Dozo Restaurant
Sunday, 17 November 2013 | 17:59 | 0 comments

Dozo restaurant is an awesome place for celebrations such as valentine's day, birthdays and anniversaries. The food is mainly western-japanese fusion and are served in courses. For lunches, six-course meals and there is a wide selection of dishes for you to choose from. For dinners, it is the same for lunch except that seven-course meals are served to you. An extra dish is included in dinner and that is the sashimi platter. Thus dinner is more expensive than the lunch. The prices at dozo ranges from $60 to $ 80 before extra charges-More affordable than any other fine dining places for special occasions. The food is extremely good with large portions too!

They gave complimentary drinks at the beginning of our lunch:

Our Starters (Chef-selected assorted platter: Smoked salmon, scallop and foie gras)

The following photos are a combination of the dishes that my partner and I ordered:
(My partner messed up the mushroom truffle soup before I could take a pic of it :( )
