Paul Bakery

My friend and I happened to be in town and we decided to patronise French boulangerie, Paul that opened in Singapore just about a year ago. Our expectations for Paul are high since it's a very old and renowned French bakery that has more than 400 stores worldwide.
We ordered a lemon meringue tart and their trademark oversized pistachio macaron:
Lemon Meringue Tart
Pistachio Macaron
I got to say that we were very disappointed with what we've ordered. The lemon custard in the tart was too overly sour and it smells like my mum's lemon detergent. Pistachio macaron tasted so-so. The only thing that I liked was the hot chocolate beverage that I ordered together with our desserts. Is this really the quality of food served at the French outlet? I really wonder...

Daniel Boulud Bistro Moderne

Went to DB Bistro Moderne at Marina Bay Sands opened by 3-star michelin chef Daniel Boulud a few months back for lunch before our musical.
Complimentary Breads
Duck Confit
Original DB Burger
The original DB burger portion was quite miserable for its price and not really value for money. It tasted average. The duck confit, on the other hand, was really good. The duck meat was well cooked, very tender and quite salty on its own. But when it was eaten together with the half-boiled egg and potatoes, the flavour was just right! Very delicious! While I enjoyed the duck confit, it is unlikely I will visit DB Bistro anytime soon because the prices are quite steep.

Flor Patisserie
Sunday, 1 December 2013 | 04:20 | 0 comments
Flor patisserie by Chef Yamashita is one of my favourite dessert places in Singapore. The chef who was formerly from Patisserie Glace opened a shop of his own located at Duxton Hill. The patisserie has since expanded and has outlets in Siglap and Takashimaya. I brought a couple of good friends to Flor@Duxton Hill and these are photos of our visit:
Our Cakes:
Wakakusayama
Berry Berries
Strawberry Souffle
The cakes are extremely delicious!! Huge thumbs up!! Cake lovers you can't miss this place!! I will definitely be back for more goodness. The next revisit will be for their Napoleon, Cacao Royale and Ice Cheese tarts.Contact Information

Au Chocolate
Wednesday, 27 November 2013 | 07:06 | 0 comments
If you're looking for brunch places near City Hall, try Au Chocolate at the Shoppes of Marina Bay Sands. The shop is extremely huge and consists of a confiserie and a bistro. Here are photos of my visit to Au Chocolate with my friend about half a year ago:
Our brunch:
Mushroom Soup
Ultimate Benedict
Eggs Royale
All the dishes that we ordered tasted extremely wonderful. I was completely mindblown by the ultimate benedict: Roast chicken, ribeye, poached eggs, Spinach and pancakes topped with their red wine dark chocolate hollandaise sauce. The best all day-brekkie that I had by far!! The mushroom soup was heavenly...never had such a nice mushroom soup before. As for the eggs royale, nothing can go wrong with smoked salmon and nicely cooked poached eggs..thumbs up!! Price-wise, everything is still quite affordable. The most expensive dish, the ultimate benedict, costs only $22 for that enormous portion of goodness. Value for money!!!
